American Historical Collection

This section is found on the 2nd floor of the Rizal Library Special Collections Building, or the “Old Lib,” which is shorthand for the Old Library.

The official reports and records on the history of American occupation in the Philippines, as well as written commentaries (book, periodical, unpublished material) and photographs are housed in this section.

The collection consists of 13,518 books; 18,674 photographs; and other historical materials (writings and artifacts). With the possible exception of the U.S. Library of Congress, the American Historical Collection houses the largest, most diverse, and most complete collection of materials of its kind in the world. A regular exhibit of select artifacts and other historical materials in the section is mounted, to show the quantity and diversity of its collection.

More information on section policies and the featured collections can be viewed here (link is external).
